Apply For 2024 MS International Federation McDonald Fellowship

The MS International Federation McDonald Fellowship supports early career researchers from low- and middle-income countries with a two-year research placement outside their home country. This fellowship enables participants to gain expertise or conduct joint research projects, contributing to MS research and patient care in their home countries.

Program Details:

  • Type: Fellowship
  • Application Deadline: June 30, 2024
  • Value & Duration of Award: £30,000 GBP per year for two years, covering travel and living costs, plus an additional £2,000 GBP per year to the host institution.
  • Eligible Countries: Low- and middle-income countries

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Hold a postgraduate degree (at least MSc, preferably PhD/MD) relevant to multiple sclerosis.
  • Be citizens of a low- or middle-income country.
  • Focus their research on an area relevant to multiple sclerosis.
  • Be working or studying in a low- or middle-income country at the time of application or studying in another country on a relevant project.
  • Have the support of a host institution and supervisor for their proposed project.

How to Apply:

  1. Identify your research project and field of interest.
  2. Contact and agree on the project proposal with your host institution.
  3. Complete all sections of the online application form.
  4. Ensure your host submits a supporting statement using the same application form.
  5. Request three referees to send their reference letters to research@msif.org before the deadline.
  6. Read the Terms and Conditions of the Award for reporting and payment requirements.

  • Explain the specific problem your research aims to solve and its importance.
  • Use simple language, concrete examples, analogies, and define technical terms.
  • Keep it short and focused on key points within the 500-word limit.
