The Simmons Distinguished Scholarship offers full tuition, room & board, and an additional $3,000 for academic pursuits such as study abroad and research support, spanning four years of full-time undergraduate study.

Value & Duration of Award:

  • Awarded for four years of full-time undergraduate study, superseding any previously awarded merit scholarship.
  • The Kotzen Scholarship provides full tuition, room & board, plus an additional $3,000 for academic pursuits such as study abroad and research support.

Eligibility:

To be considered for this Scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Apply as a freshman for the fall semester
  • Submit standardized test scores with your admission application. Recommended scores are 28 or higher on the ACT and 1300 or higher on the SAT (Optional)
  • Maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher, unweighted, in your high school transcript
  • Have a record of taking honors, International Baccalaureate (IB), and advanced placement courses.
  • Completion of an advanced-level math course in your previous college degree
  • English Proficiency is required for non-native English speakers.
  • Community Involvement: Showcase active engagement in your community through volunteer work, leadership roles, or other forms.
  • Passion for the Field: Demonstrate a passion for your chosen field of study.

Required Documents:

  • Short Answer (maximum 250 words): How would you utilize the additional annual award of $3,000 (for study abroad, short-term courses, summer internship tuition, and/or research support)?
  • Formal Essay (maximum 500 words): Some argue that leaders are born, not made, while others argue the opposite. Write an essay defending one view or the other. Use a specific example of a leader, from history or personal experience, to support your argument.
