Position Description:

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara, is seeking applications for temporary research positions (Jr. Specialists). These appointments are contingent upon funding availability and departmental requirements. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as necessary. The number of positions varies according to departmental needs, and these positions can range from part-time to full-time, as well as from short-term to long-term.

Specialists in the Specialist Series partake in specialized research, professional activities, and contribute to the University’s research mission, achieving recognition within the professional and scientific community. They may also be involved in University and/or public service, depending on the funding source and role responsibilities.

Jr. Specialists play a vital role in supporting research as part of a team.

Salary is commensurate with experience, qualifications, and the hiring level. UCSB’s salary scales can be found here.

The department is particularly interested in candidates who can enhance diversity and academic excellence through research, teaching, and service as per the position’s requirements.

• Desired educational background and research experience in Computer Engineering, Communications, Control & Signal Processing, or Electronics and Photonics.
