Position Details

As a Dietary Aide at Verland, you’ll have the chance to make a real difference in the lives of our residents. This is a versatile role that offers both full-time and part-time opportunities. We pride ourselves on offering NO NIGHT SHIFTS – your well-being is important to us.

Key Responsibilities

  • Exemplify Outstanding Customer Service Skills: At Verland, we value our residents, and we expect our Dietary Aides to provide exceptional customer service at all times.
  • Work an Assigned Schedule During Lunchtime Hours: You’ll have the opportunity to work during lunchtime hours, ensuring that residents receive their meals promptly and with care.
  • Prepare Residents’ Meal Service Trays and Assist with Serving Lunches: Your role involves preparing meal service trays and assisting in serving lunches, making mealtime a pleasant experience for our residents.
  • Maintain a Clean and Sanitary Environment: You’ll be responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary environment in the Adult Training Facility cafeteria and kitchen.
  • Sanitize All Dietary Areas and Equipment: Ensuring cleanliness is vital. You will sanitize all dietary areas and equipment as needed or as assigned.
  • Maintain a Clean and Neat Appearance: Our dietary dress code emphasizes cleanliness and neatness, contributing to a positive dining experience for our residents.
  • Participate in In-Service Training: Staying up-to-date with your skills is essential. You’ll participate in all in-service training related to the job and governing regulations.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

  • Excellent Customer Service Skills: Providing compassionate care starts with outstanding customer service.
  • High School Diploma/GED: We require a minimum educational qualification for this position.
  • Valid Driver’s License and Access to a Vehicle: Access to transportation is essential for this role.
  • Ability to Read and Understand Recipes and Special Diets: Understanding dietary requirements is crucial in providing the right care.
  • Two to Three Years of Experience in Food Preparation: Previous experience in food preparation is preferred.
  • Successful Completion of Required Clearances and Physical Exam: Safety and well-being are paramount, and you’ll need to pass clearances and a physical exam.
  • Physical Abilities: This role may require physical tasks, including pushing, pulling, squatting, stooping, and lifting in excess of 50 pounds without restrictions.

Training

Verland provides up to two weeks of paid training to new hires. This training is essential to equip you with the necessary skills for daily living, social engagement, personal hygiene, and understanding each individual’s support plan and personal development goals. Successful completion of this training is required at the start of your employment.
